Bladder Stone Removal

Bladder stones are hard forms of minerals that form inside the bladder. Most commonly seen with men who have enlarge prostate (BPH) who do not fully empty there bladder due to the obstruction from the prostate.  The urine then becomes concentrated allowing the minerals in the bladder to crystallise forming bladder stones.  The stones may irritate the lining of the bladder or obstruct the flow of urine causing symptoms of irritation (pain) or incomplete empting of the bladder followed by urinary infections.

The Stone can be easily removed by a cystocope (tube passed though the urethra into the bladder to collect the stone) lithotripsy (ultrasound waves used to break up the stone) or surgical removal.
